Just like any other job that requires the professional to have a highly centric and focused skill set, body piercing also needs certain tools and supplies in order to keep the business running. From needles and body jewelry of all sorts to belly piercing equipment, genital piercing and equipment for piercing in various other parts of the body, you would need specialized equipment for each operation that you intend to carry out on your customers or on yourself.

The quality and nature of your supplies, needles and tools should not be ignored at any cost. You should clearly have an idea of the kind of equipment you need. You should know whether you need organic needles or other ones, whether your clients would prefer naval rings that are small in size or larger belly rings. Based on your location and geographic preferences, you should make a list of supplies that you might require. For example, if you live in Asia, nose piercing and piercing on facial areas in more prevalent as compared to piercing in the naval and genital regions, therefore, you should have adequate supplies of nose piercing jewelry and tongue piercing jewelry to say the least. If your client base is basically the punk-like teenage group, you should stay away from keeping stuff they might not be able to afford. Having diamond body jewelry or 14k Gold jewelry in such cases is not practical. Rather, such a client base would prefer organic naval rings, belly buttons and tongue piercing rings.

As far as needles go, gauge 14 and gauge 16 are the most standard ones to be used the world over. You should have adequate supply of both and the gauge preference usually rests with your customer. Therefore, assessing the market you cater to and their inclination should keep you in good stead while maintaining your budgets and should also prevent you from falling short of the necessary supplies.
